Metal roofing and cladding contractor T R Freeman is celebrating a record three wins at last night’s Teamkal Awards.

The 120-year-old Cambridge firm won three of the seven categories at the industry awards in Chester.

Managing Director Gary Webb is delighted.

He said: “The Teamkal Nominated Awards are designed to highlight the very best uses of this roofing material, and encourage innovation and excellence within the industry.

“This is a massive vote of confidence in T R Freeman’s expertise and ability, and completes what has been an incredible year for us.”

The awards were only launched last year, on the 10th anniversary of Kalzip’s approved installer network.

They have quickly become a highlight of the annual Corus Teamkal conference.

The three awards won by T R Freeman are:

  • Best Kalzip project under 1500 square metres: For MHS Homes. The judges said the project was particularly worthy of recognition owing to the numerous logistical challenges and site access problems that were overcome. The final result was seen as boasting a great design, where T R Freeman’s installation expertise and attention to detail shone through

  • Best use of Kalzip fabrications: For Enterprise House. The judges said this office development project in central London was a fine example of exceptional fabrication design. It was a clear and worthy winner

  • Most unusual use of Kalzip: For the Rich Mix Centre, London: The judges were unanimous in their decision. They felt that the unique design of the roof and mansard, which is constructed from a series of cascading triangles, demonstrated a truly different approach to what was ultimately an exceptionally well-executed installation.
