Major city sponsor backs Cambridge United for another year

July 01 2008

Major local employer Kershaw Group, which includes T R Freeman, has confirmed it will continue to be a key sponsor of Cambridge United for another year.

The company will sponsor the team’s away shirts for a record eighth season.

And it means the group holds its place as the longest-serving sponsor in the club’s history.

Cambridge United’s chief executive Norman Gautrey said: “We’re very lucky at the U’s to have a sponsor that sticks with us through thick and thin. Kershaw is a big company that has never forgotten the community it works in. We’re proud to work with them and delighted to welcome them back as a sponsor for this record eighth season.”

Kershaw Group employs 183 people in Cambridge.

It is made up of three companies producing industrial & commercial mechanical services, architectural metal roofing, insulation services and domestic heating installations.

The group is involved in significant building projects across the UK, including many in Cambridge.

Supporting football is an important part of the group’s work.
