T R Freeman Adds to its Education Portfolio

April 10 2018

T R Freeman is back on campus for Essex University, undertaking two projects.

Appointed by Kier Construction, T R Freeman have been contracted for the roofing element of the university’s brand-new £12million Innovation Centre.

The Innovation Centre, which will have room to house up to 50 businesses, is being developed in order to drive growth in the north of Essex and has received financial backing from Essex County Council and the South East Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund.

Gary Webb, T R Freeman Pre-construction Director said “We are delighted to be back working with the University of Essex following previous projects for the Essex Business School in 2015 and the University itself in 2008.  The Innovation Centre, looks set to be a vital hub for the Knowledge Gateway Research Park and is an exciting development for the University” he continued “We will be on-site installing a Resitrix roofing system, which will provide a virtually maintenance-free solution, backed-up with a long lifespan – which is ideal for this type of development”

On schedule to be completed in early 2019, the Innovation Centre is located on the area of land between Parkside Office Village and the Essex Business School, which is where the Refurbishment and maintenance team can be found working on project no.2.  Appointed directly by the University, T R Freeman will be replacing the existing roof with a low maintenance Sedum roof – which comes with a host of benefits, such as energy efficiency, sound insulation and supporting the local wildlife.
