T R Freeman Awarded Horsell Moor Roofing Contract
July 21 2017
TR Freeman have recently started work on the roofing install on a new 34-bed care home in Horsell, near Woking after being awarded the contract by main contractor Stepnell.
The design team at T R Freeman started the project by preparing working drawings to ensure the architect’s roof designs were realised to their full potential.
The onsite team have then started to carry out the roof installation in co-ordination with the overall site programme. Rheinzink Blue Grey, a traditional architectural metal roofing system formulated from zinc, is being used for the roof areas. T R Freeman are responsible for the full build up, including rooflights and smoke vents as well as the installation of a metal deck and associated trims.
Gary Webb, Pre-Construction Director for T R Freeman said “We’re delighted to be appointed to work on the development of this care home, as it will help address the short supply of residential retirement accommodation.” “Talking from a roofing perspective” he continued, “zinc is a very durable and sustainable material, it is relatively maintenance free so it’s an excellent choice for a building of this nature.”
The horseshoe shaped building has been designed by award-winning architects Coffey for PegasusLife, specialists in retirement housing, and is sympathetic and in keeping with the surrounding Victorian buildings. The development, which is just a 15 minute walk from the centre of Woking, will contain individual one-and-two bedroom apartments over four storeys. There will be a shared lounge and social kitchen spaces and an enclosed courtyard for clients
