T R Freeman Complete Sheltered Housing Scheme
July 01 2019
Cambridge based commercial roofing & cladding company, T R Freeman has completed the cladding element of a new retirement living scheme in St Albans.
Appointed by main contractor Hill, T R Freeman was responsible for the design, development drawings and installation of the Zinc cladding to the purpose-built flats being constructed at Betty Entwistle House, Holyrood Crescent.
The accommodation, which has been described as a mixed-use flexicare scheme, and which will be the first of its kind to be created by St Albans District Council, will provide 40 modern apartments for residents who require additional care or support in their own homes.
Designed by GHM Partnership Ltd, the accommodation block has 0.8mm VMZinc cladding in Pigmento Brown with standard width angled standing seams installed to the 3rd floor, to create a contemporary and modern look.
Gary Webb, Director said “We are delighted to have been selected to undertake the cladding element of this development. The apartment block will provide much needed, modern sheltered accommodation for the local area”. He continued “The use of the VMZinc cladding in Pigmento Brown will provide a revolutionary look that blends well with other coloured materials and showcases the naturally grained texture of pre-weathered zinc.”
Construction started in summer 2018, with the first wave of residents expected to move in during the spring of 2019.
