T R Freeman is Looking Artful with Latest Contract.
November 16 2018
T R Freeman has been selected to install the Zinc roofing and Cladding to Culford Art Block in Bury St Edmunds.
The Art Block forms part of Culford School, which is regarded as one of the best boarding schools in the country.
Awarded the contract by main contractors Seamans Building, T R Freeman will be installing 0.7mm VM Pigmento Blue Plus Zinc roofing and 0.8mm VM Pigmento Blue Zinc cladding to the building, which has been designed by Infinity Architects.
Since 2013 the school has been running Campaign for Culford – with the aim of raising funds for Culford School to complete various development and refurbishment projects including a new library, refurbished teaching facilities and additional boarding and dining facilities.
The Art Block development forms part of phase two of Campaign for Culford, where funds are being raised for not only the Art Block but additional restorations and refurbishments to other buildings within the school.
The new development will replace the existing, outdated 1950’s building and will provide a modern, functional and attractive space which will become the heart of the schools' creative arts.
Gary Webb, Director, T R Freeman said “The current Art Block at Culford School has changed very little since the 1950’s and is in need of major structural improvements. The new building has been designed to allow in a lot of natural light, which will be far more functional”. He continued “the use of VM Pigmento Blue Zinc for the roofing and cladding will not only be hard-wearing, but it will also provide a stunning contrast to the existing brickwork of the school buildings”
Work is currently underway and T R Freeman is set to complete on-site late winter 2018.
