T R Freeman secures new £170,000 theatre contract after award win

Award-winning roofing contractor T R Freeman has secured a new contract on another theatre project– after a previous theatre project won a major award.

The company’s £120,000 Tecu Oxid copper facade on the Unicorn Theatre in London was the overall winner of the 2007 Copper in Architecture Awards.

Now T R Freeman has been awarded a £170,000 contract for a similar roof at the New Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, Kent.

They will be working closely with Keith Williams Associates, the same architect that designed the award-winning Unicorn project. The contractor is ISG Jackson.

Gary Webb, the managing director of T R Freeman, said: “It’s great to be able to work with the same architect and apply our award-winning expertise once more.

“Keith Williams Associates and T R Freeman have built a very successful relationship and we are looking forward to this project.

“T R Freeman is developing a proven portfolio of theatre projects and we are pleased to take on another challenge.”

T R Freeman Ltd was formed more than 120 years ago and is now part of the well-known Kershaw Group.

The group employs just under 200 people with a turnover of £35 million.

It is heavily involved in the local community, including a record-breaking 10 year sponsorship of Cambridge United’s away shirts.
