A lifesaving doctor, who works for Magpas - The Emergency Medical Charity based in Cambridgeshire, is to have his crucial training sponsored by local company The Kershaw Group.

The Cambridge-based construction group, which includes T R Freeman, has donated £2,500 to help Dr James French continue his advanced emergency roadside training.

He’s a member of the Magpas Helimedix team and attends serious medical emergencies by road or by air using the Magpas and Cambridgeshire Police Helicopter.

The emergency simulation training course will help him continue to develop the essential skills he uses daily whilst attending critical emergencies.

The £2,500 donation was raised by Kershaw’s office staff during a Christmas party.

Sales director Ian Greenstock said: “We asked our staff which charity they wanted to support this year and Magpas was the overwhelming choice.

“Our staff recognise the vital role Magpas provides to Cambridge and the whole of the East of England night and day. As the charity faces challenging times we wanted to show that we are fully behind them.”

Ian and his colleagues from Kershaw recently met with Doctor James together with other doctors and paramedics who volunteer their time to the charity, during a tour of the Helimedix base in Huntingdon.

They were really impressed by the team’s dedication and passion for saving lives.

The Kershaw Group employs around 183 people around the UK, with its headquarters in Ditton Walk, Cambridge.

The group is always heavily involved in the local communities where it is based, including 10 years as the away shirt sponsor of Cambridge United.
